“I desire that God may set your hearts on fire with His love.”
These words of St Magdalen of Canossa, Foundress of the Canossian Daughters of Charity, continue to be an inspiration for the lives and mission of more than 2,500 Canossian Sisters in 35 countries worldwide.
With hearts ablaze, Canossian Sisters are committed to living lives of radical love for Jesus which translates into authentic service, especially to those who are poor. Grounded in lives of prayer, Canossian Sisters are called to be contemplative apostles, incarnating their lives of daily Eucharist, community and individual prayer, into mission which make Jesus known and loved to as many as possible.
For more than 200 years, Canossian Sisters have been inspired by the Greatest Love of Jesus on the cross, reaching out to those on the margins of society. At the core of the mission of the Canossian Sisters in Australia is a desire to strive together to reveal God’s love, to challenge injustice and actively engage in being a collective voice for those who are rendered voiceless in our times. Sisters serve in a variety of ministries including education, pastoral care of the sick, evangelisation, faith formation and spiritual direction.
Now more than ever, our world and our Church need young people who are willing to witness with the totality of their lives that Jesus is the most important thing for them. Discerning a vocation with the Canossian Daughters of Charity is a radical way to respond to the great gift of faith you have received. If you want to make a difference and you have a heart for the poor in our world, consider religious life with the Canossian Daughters of Charity. It’s a radical adventure of a lifetime.
Follow Jesus. He is more than enough.
